Years ago a video conferencing
firm wanted to break into the medical arena with a service
that would facilitate remote consultations. At a trade show
the sales
people wore doctor's white coats--nothing special there--but
their stethoscopes garnered lots of attention with the
substitution of an Ethernet connector for the chestpiece. But
the real benefit came when modified stethoscopes were
delivered to reporters who sought out the video-conferencing
firm's booth and then wrote favorable articles. The
trade show display gave the firm a great boost in recognition
and sales.
